From the Interfaith Food Pantry:

The Interfaith Food Pantry and Literacy Volunteers of Morris County have announced the 12th Annual Morris Township Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

This event begins promptly at 8:30 am on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at the Ginty Field Complex in Morris Township.

The USATF-certified 5k, 1 Mile Fun Run and Kids’ Trot has become a Thanksgiving tradition for people of all ages and abilities.

In 2017, the Turkey Trot drew over 3,000 registrants. On-site registration for the rain-or-shine race opens at 7:00 am, however participants are encouraged to avoid the lines and register in advance at morristownshipturkeytrot.org.

The Turkey Trot is sponsored in part by Atlantic Sports Health, the Official Health Care Sponsor. Atlantic Sports Health recently held a Running Workshop designed to increase performance and reduce the risk of injury for both beginner and seasoned runners.

Some 25 people took part in the workshop. In addition to Atlantic Sports Health, Dixon Energy and Lexus of Route 10 will serve as sponsors, among others.

Proceeds from the Trot are shared between the LVMC and IFP and benefit many Morris County families in need of assistance.

The IFP currently serves more than 1,300 families per month, providing food, nutrition education, counseling and referral services. LVMC offers free one-on-one and small group tutoring in basic English and ESL to more than 500 Morris County adults.
