Police in Morristown and Morris Township advise motorists to expect some detours and delays from about 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, for the Halloween Half Marathon.
The 13-mile road race starts and ends at 37 Maple Ave. in Morristown, and loops through Morris Township and Chatham.
From Morristown police:
The course, at the start, will feature a closure of southbound Mt. Kemble Avenue (Route 202,) for a period of about 15 minutes, as runners run southbound in the northbound lanes.
Northbound traffic on Mt. Kemble Avene will de detoured onto Harter Road in Morris Township at the start of the race, for approximately 35 – 40 minutes.
Due to the length of this course, 13.1 miles, most roadways that the runners will utilize will be open to vehicle traffic. James Street in Morris Township., near Southgate Parkway, will be closed to allow runners to access that point on both the out and back portions of the race.
Motorists will be directed onto Rt. 287 at this location. Other area roadways may feature rolling closures should the volume of runners necessitate it for safety. A map of the course, broken into two files for size, are attached to this notice for reference. Please use caution if you are in this area on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018. Uniformed police and race marshals will be on hand to assist
Morris Township police note that minor delays also are possible on Woodland Avenue.
