Navigating Martin Luther King Avenue between Coal Avenue and George Street will be a little tricky for seven days, starting on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at 9 am, according to Morristown officials.

The town will be installing a raised crosswalk and other improvements, as part of its MLK streetscape project, explained town Administrator Jillian Barrick.

morristown police logoMorristown police advise motorists to Abbett and Ridgedale avenues, and Morris Street or Speedwell Avenue and Cory Road to circumvent the closure.

MLK Avenue will be closed to northbound traffic at Spring Street for the duration of the closure.

Motorists bound for  Manahan Village or businesses on MLK closer to Spring Street can access those areas via Bishop Nazery Way and Coal Avenue to southbound MLK.

“This closure will be in effect 24 hours a day during this seven-day period,” police said in a statement, advising motorists to plan an alternate route for the next week.
