Morristown High’s football varsity quickly found itself trailing Roxbury by two touchdowns on Saturday, and by the final whistle the score was 35-12 for the Gaels.
The defeat dropped the Colonials to 1-3 so far in 2018. Roxbury improved to 2-2.
Evan Vaquez ran for 144 yards and two scores for the Gaels, while teammate Lucas Spitzer picked off two Morristown passes and caught a touchdown pass.
The Colonials got on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a field goal by senior Ryan Devaney.
In the second half, Morristown added a safety. Sophomore Jackson Willette also found the end zone, followed by a Devaney extra point.
Morristown travels to Rockaway on Saturday, Oct. 6, to face Morris Knolls (1-3).
