THURSDAY, SEPT. 20, 2018:

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer-winning Buried Child, directed by Paul Mullins, in previews at 8 pm. Tickets start at $29. At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., Madison, 973-408-5600.

Morris Arts unveils an exhibition, Compassion: Is it the Radicalism of Our Time? at a reception from 6 pm to 8 pm at Morristown’s Gallery at 14 Maple. Free. At 14 Maple Ave. The show runs through Feb. 14, 2019, and may be seen weekdays during business hours.

Celtic Thunder X comes to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center at 8 pm. Tickets: $62.50 and $102.50. At 100 South St., 973-539-8008.


FRIDAY, SEPT. 21:

The Minstrel in Morris Township presents Bill Staines, with openers The Asthmatics, at 7:30 pm. Admission: $10; children 12 and under, free. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 22:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 6, 2018, on Merchant’s Block, next to the Model Railroad Club.

The 16th annual Community Family Day runs from noon to 5 pm at Morristown’s Cauldwell Playground, at Flagler Street and Martin Luther King Avenue. (It is rescheduled from last week.) Kids activities, food and live music. Free. Presented by Cornerstone Family Programs, the Morristown Neighborhood House, Morris Habitat for Humanity, First Energy Foundation, Envirosight and the town of Morristown. Grow It Green Morristown hosts Alfresco at the Farm, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Urban Farm at Lafayette. Live music, country relay races, farm-fresh food, and arts & crafts, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit. Tickets: $10-$35. At 31 Hazel St. Rain date: Sept. 23.


SUNDAY, SEPT. 23:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back, at 8:30 am every Sunday through Nov. 18. At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.

Opera at Florham presents September Song, a preview of the coming Metropolitan Opera season, performed by three top vocalists, at 2 pm at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. Tickets: $10-$30. At 285 Madison Ave.

Learn the Chinese art of Tai Chi, at 2 pm at the Morristown & Township Library. Free. Runs on Sundays through Nov. 11, 2018. (No class on Sept. 30.) At One Miller Road, Morristown.
