Loantaka Brook Reservation is a linear greenway with 10.5 miles of trails through a lush, flat terrain that is perfect for bicycling.
Now, 15 bikes are located at three stations – at the South Street, Kitchell Pond and Loantaka Way areas.
A ride costs $1 every 30 minutes or $2/hour. Users access the bikes via the Zagster mobile app.
The Loantaka Brook bike-share comes courtesy of the Morris Park Alliance, working with donors Atlantic Health/Morristown Medical Center, the Community Foundation of New Jersey, and Delta Dental.
It is a pilot program. A portion of the user fee will be returned to the Alliance and used for trail maintenance at the park.
Instructions for renting bikes, shown below, comes from the Morris Moves website.
There are three Zagster bike-shares in Morris County. The others are at the Funplex in East Hanover, and at Estling Village in Denville.
Back in Greater Morristown, if you’ve forgotten picnic provisions, no worries. Right outside the entrance to the Seton Hackney Stables area of Loantaka Brook Reservation is Richie’s Deli. Handier than ever now that you have a bike.
