THURSDAY, SEPT. 6, 2018:
The Wings of Freedom Tour returns to Morristown Municipal Airport with vintage World War II aircraft. Tours from 9 am to 5 pm, admission: $5 to $15. Rides on aircraft: $400 to $3,200. Call 978-562-9182. At 1 Airport Road, Hanover.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 7:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.
The band Rosewood performs a free concert from 6 pm to 8 pm in Madison, outside the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, at 9 Main St.
The Morristown High School varsity football team travels to Randolph for a 7 pm kickoff against the Rams. The Colonials look to improve upon last year’s 2-8 record.
The Minstrel in Morris Township presents an evening of blues with Betsy Rose and the Chicago Fire–comprising some of the Folk Project’s most talented musicians–with opener Rhonda Schuster, at 7:30 pm. SATURDAY, SEPT. 8:
Join the Morris County Chapter of The Links Inc. at 8 am for a Walkathon in support of today’s 23rd annual Community Health Day in Morristown. (More about that below.) Walkers will leave Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center on Madison Avenue, arriving at Headquarters Plaza at 3 Speedwell Ave. to start the health festival.
The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 6, 2018, on Merchant’s Block, next to the Model Railroad Club.
The 23rd annual Community Health Day, a clearinghouse of free health screenings and wellness information, comes to Morristown’s Headquarters Plaza from 9 am to 1 pm. Children’s activities, zumba demo, raffle prizes, music and more. Sponsored by Morristown Medical Center and area churches and service organizations. The annual Kid Fondo will offer bike safety training, bike decorating activities, a “circuit ride” with medals, and pizza, for cyclists aged 5-12, from 10 am to noon at the Vail Mansion on South Street in Morristown. Free, but donations to the New Jersey Bike and Walk Coalition are suggested. This event is a precursor to the Gran Fondo (see Sunday entry).
Environmental groups have scheduled a climate rally at Morristown town hall from 11 am until 2 pm. The event will include electric vehicles, arts and crafts for kids, and an open mic for high school- and college students. See the People’s Climate Movement for more.
The Morris Township Parks and Recreation committee hosts its annual End of Season Swim Pool Picnic & BBQ at Ginty Pool from 1 pm to 6 pm. Admission: $10, children under age 2 years, free. Includes: Acoustic Road Band, 3 PM- 5 PM (Acoustic & Classic Rock Music), deejay, arts & crafts, magic Show (3PM- 5 PM), burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, etc. Rain date: Sunday, Sept 9, 2018.
Jim Hicks, organ virtuoso and former music director for the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, will perform a benefit concert for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 5 pm, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 119 Main St., Millburn. Suggested donation: $20. Hicks is in the midst of a series of benefits to fight the disease that claimed the life of a childhood friend. Call 973-376-0688 for more.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 9:
The Morristown Farmers Market is back, at 8:30 am every Sunday through Nov. 18. At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.
The Gran Fondo NJ returns to Morristown for a day of bicycling. Hundreds of cyclists will roll out at 7 am from the Hyatt Regency Morristown at 3 Speedwell Ave., and return there after completing scenic rides of 18- to 107 miles through the northern New Jersey countryside. Cheer for the riders as they test their endurance. See website for details about registering to ride.
It’s a Civil War fashion show, Lincoln and Lee’s Ladies, at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township. Tours on the hour from 1 pm to 4 pm. Admission: $7 for adults, $5 for children; ages 4 and under, free. At 353 Hanover Ave., 973-285-6537.

Will Jimeno, a Port Authority police officer who survived 13 hours beneath the rubble of the World Trade Center on 9/11, will address Morris County’s 17th annual remembrance of that day, at 5 pm at the Sept. 11th Memorial on West Hanover Avenue in Parsippany-Troy Hills, across from the Morris View Healthcare Center and adjacent to the Morris County Public Safety Academy.
