Thieves did not take Labor Day off in Morris Township.

A home on Tall Timber Drive was burglarized around 4 a.m., and a 2018 Range Rover was stolen from the driveway, reports Police Chief Mark DiCarlo.

A camera recorded two suspects, who entered the unoccupied house through an unlocked rear door and found keys to the S.U.V., the chief said.

As of Monday afternoon, the vehicle’s last known location was Newark, said DiCarlo.

“Please lock the doors of your home and vehicle,” he advised.

The Township has had a rash of burglaries and thefts from cars over the summer.  Two teenaged males were charged in connection with the theft of a Volkswagen Passat from Lindsley Drive in August.  The vehicle crashed in Jersey City.

Around the same time as that car theft, items were reported stolen from four unlocked vehicles on Fillmore Drive.  Another theft from a vehicle was reported soon afterwards on Normandy Parkway.

Authorities also are seeking a motorist involved in a hit-and-run collision with a motorcyclist on James Street last month, and a man suspected of firing a gunshot after attempting to burglarize a home on Frederick Place in late July.

  1. Scared in Morris Township

While your concerns are noted, bringing others in will not solve this issue. MTPD is a very competent agency with good people. Historically crimes against persons are very low in the township and this continues today. It is a safe community. No community is immune to what is taking place. People need to head law enforcements crime prevention recommendations while reporting suspicious activity IMMEDIATELY.

  2. This is a disgrace! This town needs to call in some back up from the County or State to catch these thugs. Clearly not safe to live here anymore.
