Crime of the Week: Reported armed burglary attempt in Morris Township

The Morris County Sheriff’s CrimeStoppers program is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps crack its Crime of the Week, an attempted burglary in Morris Township on July 29, 2018.

Authorities say the suspect fired a handgun at a homeowner’s dog that chased him from the rear of a home on Frederick Place at 8:15 pm. No injuries were reported.

“There is no immediate danger to the public and it is an isolated incident,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is described as a black male, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, with an athletic build and approximately 5-6 to 5-8 inches tall. His hair is short on the sides, with one-inch twisted braids on top. He was reported to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, and wearing a black backpack.
