From the George Gramby Observance Committee:
On Saturday, July 14, 2018, the George Gramby Observance Committee will host the 25th Annual George Gramby Day at Cauldwell Playground in Morristown.
The event is a community celebration promoting living sober lives and honoring individuals that exemplify the characteristics of the late George Gramby, who was the founder of a substance abuse referral center in Morristown named “Beginnings.”
This year’s sponsors include the Town of Morristown, FirstEnergy/Jersey Central Power & Light Co., PNC Bank, Vision and Pathways, Sigma Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Calvary Baptist Church, and Church of God in Christ. The theme is “New Beginnings, The Journey Continues.”
The event will include men’s softball tournament (9 am to 2 pm at George Gramby Memorial Park), pony rides, face painting, youth basketball game, food, vendors, a youth speaker in recovery and local talent entertainment with continuous DJ music.
Individuals and organizations who have demonstrated commitment, consistency, dedication, desire to help others, diligence, honesty, humbleness, integrity, leadership, and community service will receive humanitarian awards at 4 pm.
This year’s recipients are the Honorable Mayor of Morristown, Tim Dougherty; his wife Mary Dougherty; Alton Robinson; Morris County Sheriff James Gannon and the great nephews of George Gramby, Jaylen and Brandon King.

The George Gramby Observance Committee is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is dedicated to continuing the vision of the late George Gramby by heightening the community’s awareness of the disease of addiction through prevention, education and the celebration of recovery.
