Video: Speeches to remember, from Morristown High ’18 commencement

Graduates in 2018 are entering a world riven by sharp and seemingly intractable divisions.

This comes as no surprise to them–harsh realities have punctuated their high school careers, with lockdown drills, walkouts for tougher gun laws and marches for women’s rights and police respect for black lives.

If Thursday’s Morristown High School commencement is any indicator, this group is up to the challenges ahead.

Valedictorian Tommy Cromie and Salutatorian Erin Fleck spoke of the values they learned at MHS, a diverse environment that taught them the power of empathy.

And Principal Mark Manning talked about seizing the moment — a moment in history when contributions of these grads can make a difference.

Here are videos of their speeches.
