From administering healthcare to healthcare administration

Kathleen Dittrick has been caring for patients for more than three decades. However, when she became the Director of Resident Health at the Oaks, a retirement center in Denville, N.J., Dittrick decided to further her education.

“I wanted to learn more about being a manager,” says Dittrick, who already holds a B.S. in nursing with years of practical experience. “The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), with its small class sizes and knowledgeable professors, was the perfect place for me to learn.”

Ever since she was a little girl, Dittrick dreamed of becoming a professional in the medical field. She achieved this dream shortly after graduating from college when she began working as a nurse. Over the years, Dittrick has earned a lot of accomplishments, including successfully managing a staff and raising a family, but she never anticipated returning to school.

“Coming back for my master’s has been incredible,” says Dittrick. “I’m already using everything that I’m learning in the classroom to better guide me in my career.”

CSE’s health administration program participates in ED CHOICE. ED CHOICE is a program, unique to CSE, that that allows students to choose whether to attend class on campus or complete coursework online depending on their individual schedules.
