THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2018:

Meet Me in Morristown, the summer sidewalk fair, returns for the first of four last-Thursday-of-the-month celebrations of art and business on South Street. Free, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Presented by Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership.  Jam band Secret Sound performs on the Green at 7 pm.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison presents Molière’s comedy Tartuffe, at 8 pm. We rarely endorse events–but this comedy is a must-see. Two hours fly by in blur of laughter. Tickets: $29 to $69. At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., Madison, 973-408-5600.

 

 


FRIDAY, JUNE 1:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Morris County Moms Demand Action plan a Wear Orange (WO) Gun Violence Awareness Event at Morristown town hall at 10 am. Free.

Shrek The Musical, the sixth annual community production by Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center, debuts at 7:30 pm, with additional shows on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets: $20-$30. At 100 South St., 973-539-8008. Read our preview.

The Schiff Nature Preserve in Mendham hosts its ninth annual Environmental Film Festival at 6:30 pm. Admission: $10-$50. At 339 Pleasant Valley Road.

SUNDAY,  JUNE 3:

Explore an 'Introduction to Tai Chi.'
Explore an ‘Introduction to Tai Chi.’

American Girl dolls Samantha and Luciana representing the past and the present, will be featured at a Friends of Florham luncheon, at 11:30 am at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. Tickets: $30-$35.  At Hennessy Hall, 285 Madison Ave.

Explore the Chinese art of Tai Chi, at 1:30 pm at the Morristown & Township Library with Master Gang Huang. These free classes are open to all abilities. No registration required. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Learn about the rich and varied equestrian heritage of the Somerset Hills and Morristown areas from local historian W. Barry Thomson, who will give an illustrated presentation at the Morristown and Morris Township Library at 2 pm, in the library’s lower level Meeting Room. Free. At One Miller Road.

Maestro Robert Butts and the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey present an afternoon of Beethoven, Haydn and Rachmaninoff, featuring guest soloist Hyunjin Cho on piano, at 3 pm at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Tickets $5-$40. At 2 Convent Road, Morris Township.
