Tickets on sale for ‘Shrek the Musical,’ sixth community show at MPAC

From the Mayo Performing Arts Center:

The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents its sixth annual Spring production, Shrek the Musical, Friday, June 1-Sunday, June 3, 2018. Tickets are $20-$30.

The show will feature a cast of more than 50 young performers ranging in age from 7 to the 20s. The show will be directed by Cathy Roy. Musical Director/Conductor is Charles Santoro.

“We are so excited to be presenting Shrek the Musical,” said Roy, MPAC’s director of education.

“This light-hearted musical has a great score, a hilarious book and is popular with audiences of all ages!  Its central theme of acceptance and inclusion is so relevant in today’s society and reminds us that ‘what makes us different is what makes us strong!'”

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire

Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

Showtimes are:

Friday, June 1, at 7:30 pm
Saturday, June 2, at 2 pm and 7:30 pm
Sunday, June 3, at 2 pm
