The Morristown & Township Library continues its British Classic Films series at 6:45 pm with A Matter of Life and Death (1946, rated PG). Also known as Stairway to Heaven, this film follows a British wartime aviator who cheats death, and must argue for his life before a celestial court. Free, at One Miller Road, Morristown.

SATURDAY, MAY 12:
It’s time for the Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive by Postal Service carriers. In Greater Morristown, the drive will benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry. Needed items include canned soup, canned fruit, canned tuna, evaporated, dry or shelf stable milk, pasta sauce in cans or plastic jars, canned beans (such as kidney, pinto, etc.), pasta and cereal. Leave them near your mailbox on Saturday.
The Morristown Clean Communities Program and the local Kiwanis Club host a shredding event behind Morristown town hall, from 9 am to noon. Cost:$5 per bag or box (maximum 10 pounds), with proceeds benefiting the Morristown Kiwanis High School Scholarship Fund. The Town Hall parking lot is off Franklin Street. Look for the big Cipshred truck.

Grow It Green Morristown marks season nine of the Early Street Community Garden with a 10 am ribbon-cutting, celebrating a rebuild that includes new plots and many improvements. Live music, garden tours and a ladybug release, with a plant sale starting at 10:30 am. Free, please RSVP for ribbon-cutting.
Celebrate National Public Gardens Day at Morristown’s Macculloch Hall Historical Museum from 10 am to 1 pm. Free, all ages, rain or shine. Meet an owl from the Raptor Trust at 11 am, build a fairy house in the garden, tour the garden at 12:30 pm. At 45 Macculloch Ave. RSVP here.
