What separates the Democrats running for seats on the Morris Township Committee?

Find out on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Morristown Area.

Doors open at 7 pm for the 7:30 pm event, at the Alfred Vail School, 125 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains.

Two three-year terms will be contested this fall, in a pivotal race for control of the governing body.

For years, Republicans held all five committee seats. But last year’s victory by Democrats Cathy Wilson and John Arvanites narrowed the GOP margin to 3-2.

Four Democrats are vying in the June 5 primary for two spots on the November ballot:

Mark Gyorfy and Daniel Falkner are running as the “Morris County Democratic Committee Inc.” team.

Former Committeeman Jeff Grayzel and Tara Olivo-Moore, who entered the race near the filing deadline, are running as the “Morris County Democrats.”

On the Republican side, incumbent Bruce Sisler will run this fall with Joseph Calvanelli, who hopes to fill the seat being vacated by GOP Committeeman Matheu Nunn. Nunn is moving from the Township.

This forum is only for the contested primary race– the Democrats. The Republicans will be invited to another candidates forum in the fall, said a spokeswoman for the League.
