From the town of Morristown:

Richard Mikutsky named Director of Division of Fire Safety by Gov. Murphy

Retired Morristown Fire Department Captain Richard Mikutsky has been appointed by Governor Phil Murphy to become Director of Division of Fire Safety and State Fire Marshal for the State of New Jersey. The vacated seat had been empty for the previous seven years.

Appointed to Fire Captain of Morristown in 2012, Mikutsky is a long-time veteran of the fire department, serving over 30 years before his recent retirement in Morristown.

“We are extremely grateful to have had Rich Mikutsky serve as Fire Captain for many years in Morristown,” added Mayor Timothy Dougherty. “I have no doubt that he will continue to serve our State with the utmost integrity.”

Mikutsky’s position will serve as the central focus for the State’s fire service community and the general public in all matters relating to fire safety through the development and enforcement of the State Uniform Fire Code, public education programs and firefighter training programs, following the mission of the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.

Mayor Dougherty, the Town Council, the Morristown Fire Bureau and everyone at the Town of Morristown are extremely proud of him and wish him the best of luck.
