What’s coming to Mt. Kemble Avenue in Morris Township when Atlantic Rehabilitation moves out?

Town homes, and multi-family dwellings, with some affordable units, according to municipal documents. But how many units?

Details should emerge on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at a 5 pm special meeting of the Township Committee. The Committee is scheduled to introduce an ordinance adopting a Mt. Kemble redevelopment plan.

Next, the measure will be reviewed on May 7 by the Township Planning Board for compliance with the municipal zoning master plan. It’s anticipated to return to the Committee for a public hearing and final vote on May 16.

The site straddles the Morris Township / Morristown border. Atlantic Health announced plans last fall to move its rehab center by early 2019 to a facility under construction at Giralda Farms in Madison.

Also scheduled for discussion on Thursday: The Township’s Mt. Laurel fair share housing obligation.

On June 15, a compliance hearing will explore whether the Township has taken all required steps to ensure it can satisfy affordable housing obligations it agreed to in a December settlement, according to Committeewoman Cathy Wilson.

Thursday’s meeting will occur in the courtroom of the municipal building at 50 Woodland Ave.
