Learn the remarkable story of three Civil War generals from Morristown, from retired Judge Kenneth MacKenzie, at the Morristown & Township Library at 7 pm. Free. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Two perennial jazz favorites, Grover Kemble and Jerry Vezza, join forces at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre for an evening of Tales & Tunes. Their ensemble takes the stage at 8 7.30 pm. The 30th Anniversary of the Blackwell Street Juried Student Show celebrates with a reception from 7 pm to 9 pm, at the Atrium Art Gallery in Morristown. Nearly 400 pieces from high school artists from across Morris County will be displayed on four floors of the county Administration and Records Building through may 4, 2018. Curated by the Blackwell Street Center for the Arts and presented by Morris Arts, at 10 Court St.

SATURDAY, APRIL 7:

Morristown’s annual Fishing Contest is scheduled for Burnham Park Pond, weather-permitting, from 8 am to 11 am. Bring your fishing gear, the town supplies the bait. Prizes for kids ages 5-14. Free, but registration is required, either online, in person at the Recreation Department (200 South St.) or by mail: Recreation Dept., 200 South St., P.O. Box 914, Morristown 07963. The MacDowell Club of Mountain Lakes concludes its 2017-2018 recital season with a 3 pm concert featuring soprano Victoria Atwater, tenor Bruce Reed, and pianist David Maiello, presenting music from Puccini to Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will transform its 50,000-square-foot facility in Florham Park into a Grand Ballroom, for its Annual Gala to launch its 56th season. A 6:30 pm reception kicks things off. At 8:45 p.m., the Silent Auction will close and guests are invited into the “Grand Ballroom” for more libations, dessert, and coffee and performances by Cabaret artists. Board member Richard B. The weekly indoors Morris County Winter Farmers’ Market has its penultimate session, from 10 am to 2 pm at Alexander Hamilton School, 24 Mills St., Morristown. It’s here each Sunday through April 15, 2018.

Explore the Chinese art of Tai Chi, at 1:30 pm at the Morristown & Township Library with Master Gang Huang. These free classes are open to all abilities. No registration required. At One Miller Road, Morristown.
