Storm news: Early dismissals in Morris District schools, free garage parking for Morristown residents, March 2

In like a lion…

A nor’easter is roaring through Greater Morristown this afternoon, March 2, 2018, bringing forecasts of rain, snow and strong winds.  The National Weather Service has upgraded its advisory to a winter storm warning.

Four to eight inches of wet snow are possible, with gusts of 50 mph.  Morris Township police report numerous trees are down.

Therefore…

Schools in the Morris School District will close early, and the Sunset program and all extra-curricular activities are canceled.

Guys & Dolls at the Frelinghuysen Middle School has been rescheduled to 1pm on Sunday.  All Friday tickets will be honored on Sunday.

And Morristown residents can park free in three Morristown Parking Authority garages from 6 pm until 4 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018, according to Mayor Tim Dougherty’s office.

The garages are:

  • DALTON GARAGE at CATANNO AVENUE
  • DEHART STREET GARAGE (VERY LIMITED AVAILABILTY)
  • ANN/BANK PARKING GARAGE

Your driver’s license will serve as proof of residency.
