The College of Saint Elizabeth has started an Institute for Couples Therapy Education (ICTE) which will provide training and educational opportunities to N.J. licensed psychotherapists and doctoral students in the College’s Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology program.
The Institute represents a partnership between the N.J. Collaborative for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NJCEFT) and the Department of Psychology at the College to advance the mission of working with underserved populations with an emphasis on social justice in the field of mental health.
The Institute can provide both APA-sponsored Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists, licensed mental health professionals including LPCs, and MFTs. In addition, because of the College’s regional accreditation, social workers can receive approved CE for any workshop in which they participate.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the College to provide a much-needed service to the community,” said Michelle Barrett, CSE associate professor and co-director of the program. “Our workshops will help prepare professionals to more deeply understand couples’ relationships and bring awareness to crucial issues, such as violence, separation, and attachment.”
The next workshop will be: Sunday, May 6, 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the College’s campus in Morristown. The focus will be domestic violence.
Mary Colleen Robinson has a communication degree with a concentration in journalism and is currently working as the PR/Social Media Specialist at the College of Saint Elizabeth.
