Nestled in beautiful, historic Morristown, NJ, Temple B’nai Or [buh-NAY OAR], celebrates the 6th annual Community Art Exhibit in the Linda Grandis Blatt Gallery.

Featuring 17 local artists, the 2018 exhibit explores the theme, Common Ground: Creating Community Through Sharing Our Stories.

Each year a portion of sales from the community show is donated to a local charity.  This year’s worthy recipient is Literacy Volunteers of Morris County.  They believe that the ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English is essential for personal freedom and sustainability of a democratic society.  Their mission is to provide free instructions to Morris County adults in literacy, English fluency and American culture.

The opening of this exhibition is scheduled in the Linda Grandis Blatt Gallery of Temple B’nai Or, 60 Overlook Road, Morristown, on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, from 3-5pm.  The reception, which is open to the public, will feature a presentation from Literacy Volunteers of Morris County, and a chance to meet and hear from the featured artists.

Featured Artists: Cathleen McCoy Bristol, Susan Gates, Donna Stein, Yona Rozen, Sue Chung, Alan Goldberg, Gary Sharpe, Harold Moffet, Jessica Lawrence, P.J. Aduskevicz, Patricia Flaherty, Edward Abelew, Louise Russano, Larry Sohn, Francesca Pelaggi, Emi T Chalker and Mia Mutascio.

The exhibition runs through April 15, 2018.  Gallery hours are during Temple B’nai Or functions and by appointment during business hours, Monday through Friday. 

About Literacy Volunteers of Morris County

Literacy Volunteers of Morris County provides free instruction to adults who lack the ability to read, write or speak English.  Each year their volunteer tutors provide free tutoring to help hundreds of adults, enabling them to become more successful and productive employees, parents, consumers, and citizens.  Literacy Volunteers of Morris County is also an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy Worldwide.

About The Linda Grandis Blatt Gallery of Temple B’nai Or

The Linda Grandis Blatt Gallery is located at Temple B’nai Or , 60 Overlook Road, Morristown, NJ  07960.  The Gallery was made possible in 2009 by a grant from Bill Blatt in memory of his beloved wife, Linda, to create a welcoming portal into the sacred space of the synagogue for both members and non-members.  Temple B’nai Or is a Reform Jewish congregation and a welcoming, diverse and caring community.
