Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz and Mayor Tim Dougherty fielded questions on Wednesday from residents demanding to know why they were not alerted to burglaries in November and December… burglaries that authorities say culminated last month in the lunchtime rape of a woman in her apartment.

Here is video of the entire meeting, at which the town officials ultimately agreed to ramp up public alerts–even though the Chief said his bureau prefers to operate quietly.

Demnitz also shares burglary prevention tips.
