Morris Township police investigating reports of gunfire

UPDATE: Police say they now are looking for a Nissan Altima, or similar make/model.

Morris Township police are seeking information pertaining to gunfire reported just before midnight on Wednesday on Jersey Avenue.

Morris Township police logoThe Morris Township Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Jersey Avenue in Morris Township, NJ at 11:56 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017.

Shortly before midnight, witnesses reported hearing gunfire. Patrols responded to the scene, where evidence was recovered.

At this time, it is unknown if anyone was injured. There were no victims at the scene and the motive of the shooting in also unknown.

The investigation is active, however we feel confident that there is no danger to the public and it is an isolated incident.

We are seeking the public’s assistance with information. There were three males involved in the incident and they may possibly be Hispanic and/or African American. This is believed based on witness statements.

It was also reported that a Ford Crown Victoria Nissan Altima or similar make and model was observed leaving the scene. Please refer to the included video clip and still photo.
