The rain and cold couldn’t deter more than 50 tuba, euphonium and sousaphone players who converged Saturday on the Morristown Green for the annual Merry Tuba Christmas concert.
Players ranged in age from 13 to 80. Some were high school musicians, others, pros.
Merry Tuba Christmas originated in New York City in 1974, and spread around the world. It reached Morristown in 2012.

Matthew Palermo and Guest Conductor John Palatucci led Saturday’s makeshift orchestra in such holiday classics as Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells and O Christmas Tree, as the crowd enthusiastically sang along.
A number of Morristown High School students were among the players, much to the appreciation of their families in the audience. Truly, everyone was in the spirit of the season.
Happy holidays!
