Car stop leads to marijuana bust in Morris Township

No headlights…an odor of cannabis…and here’s what happens.

Morris Township Police Officer makes arrest for possession of approximately 1.3 lbs. of marijuana.

On Saturday evening, Dec. 9, 2017, at approximately 8:13 pm, Ptl. Clay Boeninghaus initiated a motor vehicle stop on Emmett Avenue after observing a 2013 Mazda CX5 driving without headlights.

The driver, Luis Gonzalez-Rojas appeared extremely nervous. Ptl. Boeninghaus detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle while speaking to the driver.

A search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of two large heat sealed packages totaling approximately 1.3 lbs. of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Gonzalez-Rojas, a 23-year-old white male, from Brooklyn, NY, was charged with third degree possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, a fourth degree possession of marijuana and a disorderly persons offense for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Gonzalez-Rojas was released on a complaint summons, pending a court date.
