To the Editor:
A big take-away for me from the Morris Township Candidates’ Forum on Oct. 23, 2017, was that Nicole Saphier claimed to be all for transparency in government but tried to explain away the fact that she’s missed many meetings of the Economic Development Advisory Committee by stating that she does the committee’s work “offline.”
This explanation made me wonder if Nicole understands that the committee’s work is the public’s business and that, as a member of this committee, she has an obligation to participate in conducting the public’s business in public.
Her dismissive attitude toward the importance of attending this committee’s meetings in person is ironic and not in keeping with her emphasis on the importance of open government.
If Nicole is too busy to attend meetings (where the public’s business is conducted in public), she should resign.
