Morristown High School’s field hockey team will try to rebound on Monday from a tough week that saw Madison dash the Colonials’ dream of repeating as Morris County champion.

The girls host Mendham at home at 4 pm on Oct. 23, 2017.

Madison blanked Morristown 8-0 in last Tuesday’s county final, handing the Colonials their first defeat of the season. An even bigger loss was team captain Devon Colquhoun, sidelined by a slash.

Although the Colonials rallied on Thursday to beat Parsippany Hills on Senior Day, they were edged 3-2 by Hackettstown in overtime on Saturday, after fighting back from a 2-1 deficit to tie the match on a penalty corner with no time remaining.

Morristown missed the game-changing play of its injured captain. And in O.T. the team lost a key defensive player, Kei Murphy, who took a hit to the face.

The Colonials still are gunning for a conference title. They beat Mendham earlier in the season, and if everyone is healthy, they should be the favorites.
