A local teen was taken to Morristown Medical Center as a precaution after being struck by a car in a crosswalk at South and Elm streets on Friday night, police said.

The 17-year-old girl complained of minor pain in her legs after the 9:40 p.m. accident, said police spokesman Lt. Stuart Greer.

Nancy Boyajy, 71, of Morris Plains, was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk after telling police she did not see the girl when she drove her 2006 Toyota left, from eastbound South Street, onto northbound Elm Street, Greer reported.

An independent witness confirmed the narratives of the victim and the driver, the officer said.
