Guess what: New Jersey produces some nice wines, as Fosterfields festival proves

Early October means colorful leaves, migrating monarchs and harvesting grapes.

New Jersey grapes aren’t table grapes, they’re wine grapes.  Grapes which, happily, produce very nice wine.

Wine tasting events are held around the state from February to November.  Morris Township is fortunate to host the Grand Harvest Wine Festival at Fosterfields during the first weekend in October.

Saturday boasted fantastic weather and fortunately, rain held off on Sunday.  Warm temperatures allowed people to set up beach chairs and enjoy live music, visit the food trucks and, of course, taste wine.

Family picnics abounded.  A Kids Zone featured a moon bounce, face painting, sand art, crafts and lawn games.

Participating wineries came from across the state:  Atlantic County (4), Gloucester County (3), Salem & Warren Counties (2 each) and Sussex, Cumberland and Burlington Counties (1 each).
