WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION FOR MORRISTOWN MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES 2017 SCHOLARSHIP AND MAGNET AWARD RECIPIENTS
The Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC) is pleased to announce its 2017 Scholarship Awards and its newly-added Magnet Awards.
WAMMC Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding Morristown Medical Center employees to help further their continued education, development and leadership skills in the hospital and healthcare field.
This year the WAMMC Magnet Awards were established to recognize individual nurses or teams that have met the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s criteria required to achieve Magnet Recognition®.

Established in 1957, WAMMC’s Scholarship Program supports the staff at Morristown Medical Center by granting scholarships to hospital employees pursuing careers in the healthcare field.
WAMMC Scholarship recipients are chosen based on applicants demonstrating extraordinary care and service to patients, their peers, colleagues and the community.
WAMMC added the Magnet Award to its Scholarship Program to support Morristown Medical Center’s efforts toward the fifth Magnet redesignation. The Magnet Awards were based on the Magnet Recognition® components of Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, Exemplary Professional Practice and New Knowledge, Innovation and Improvements.
In 2017 WAMMC’s Scholarship Awards Committee awarded a record $49,000 in scholarships to a total of 19 employees, which included 11 to students working towards their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees and 8 post-graduate and doctorate degrees.
WAMMC awarded $26,000 in scholarships to 12 recipients in 2016. The steady growth of this program can be attributed to the hard work of successful fundraising and the generous donations of WAMMC members.
“WAMMC’s Scholarship Program for health care professionals continues to be a very important part of our ongoing fundraising efforts to support Morristown Medical Center’s goals to provide superior health services to our community,” said Mary Courtemanche, president, Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center.
“This is evidenced by our most recent month-long fundraising event, Mansion in May 2017 at Alnwick Hall – The Abbey in Morris Township, NJ, which was designated to benefit the New Center for Nursing Innovation and Research at Morristown Medical Center.”
