The annual NJ State Fair/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show filled the Sussex County Fairgrounds with prize-winning animals, show jumping, rides, and of course, deep- fried everything last week.
The deep-fried pickles were especially good!
And who can forget the pig- and wiener dog races? They get the pigs at 6 weeks old and it takes only one week to train them to run — they know an Oreo cookie is waiting at the finish line, and pigs are among the smartest animals on earth.
By the time they’re 6 months old these cute little piglets will be 200 pounds-plus, and their racing days are behind them.
You’ve never heard ‘Amazing Grace’ like this. Video by Jeff Sovelove:
Fair-goers interacted with alpacas, sheep, rabbits and chickens, and could view a 2,000-pound ox, listen to a concert or just browse the vendors lining the midway.
The show jumping was very memorable, with two riders recording clean runs, leading to an exciting jump off.
