This year’s Verizon Corporate Classic 5K has a new route, starting and ending on Morristown’s Maple Avenue, after looping into Morris Township.
More than 4,000 runners are expected for the 7:30 pm start on Thursday, July 13, 2017. The course will have them doubling back on themselves. Morristown police have issued this alert for motorists.
FROM MORRISTOWN POLICE:
The Verizon Corporate Classic 5K will take place in Morristown and Morris Township on Thursday evening, 07/13/2017.
The race route will run from 37 Maple Ave. to Market St., and then south onto Mt. Kemble Avenue. (Route 202.) The route will run south until a point just north of Harter Road in Morris Township, and will then retrace the route northbound on Route 202 back to 37 Maple Ave.
Northbound Rt. 202 will be closed at Harter Road beginning at 6 pm. The posted detour will be Harter Road to James Street.
Southbound Route 202 will be closed at approximately 7 pm until 8 pm. The posted detour will be Ann Street to Western Avenue to Bailey Hollow Road.
From 7 pm until 8 pm, Route 202 from Ann Street to Harter Road will be completely closed to vehicular traffic. Please make alternate arrangements to travel plans. Additionally, Maple Avenue in Morristown will be closed from Miller Road to Dehart Street.
An approved detour with signage will be deployed to assist motorists, and uniformed police officers will be on hand to assist and redirect traffic from this area.
