A crowd-sourced charter bus service has lowered fares for its special summer runs from Morristown to Manhattan.
Skedaddle, which is offering weekday service between the Morristown train station and 7th Avenue at 31st Street from July 10 to Sept. 1, 2017, has reduced one-way tickets from $17.50 to $13.
The service aims to help commuters cope with a shutdown of most NJ Transit MidTown Direct rail service on the Morris & Essex line for Amtrak track repairs.
Buses will run at 7 am, 7:30 am and 8 am, and return at 5:30 pm, 6 pm and 7 pm. Reservations can be made here.
The new rate is cheaper than the usual $14 train fare, although NJ Transit is offering rail discounts of up to 50 percent for commuters who opt for trains to Hoboken to catch PATH or ferry service into New York.
