What do Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern have in common with Morristown police?

Bella Rachlin and Idan Knafo Kerbis, of course!

These 20-something artists were a hit last year, and so they are back, just in time for another Garden State Comic Fest. Once again, they have donated a pair of luscious prints to Morristown PBA Local 43, for free distribution to 500 lucky festival-goers.

“The purpose of our giveaway is to build good community relations. By blending the police with comic book heroes, we are hoping to shed a different light on how people may see police officers,” said Sgt. Michael Molnar, who got the ink flowing last year through his friendship with festival co-founder Dave O’Hare.

Rachlin and Kerbis came to New Jersey from Israel to study at the famed Kubert School in Dover.

Last year’s festival experience proved so positive that the PBA was eager for an encore, Molnar said.

“Bella and Idan are very generous people. When I asked about doing a new art piece for this year’s Comic Fest, they didn’t hesitate to jump on the project,” the officer said.

Rachlin, who this year celebrated her first published work (cover art for Agents of PACT, issue 2), autographed copies of her Wonder Woman poster at town hall on Friday. Mayor Tim Dougherty presented her with a letter of thanks.

Kerbis, who created the Green Lantern drawing (see video clip) was back in Tel Aviv awaiting visa clearance to return here.

Let’s hope a superhero or two intercedes on his behalf, so he can join Rachlin and the PBA at the Comic Fest, on July 8 and 9, 2017, from 10 am to 6 pm, at Mennen Arena in Morris Township.
