Suspect chased down, arrested in Morristown bank robbery

A Morristown man was arrested Friday after allegedly robbing the TD Bank on South Street.

Zachary Zingale, 30, tried to flee on foot but was caught near the bank shortly after the 10 am robbery, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities said Zingale had demanded money, threatened to use a gun, and then fled with money in a vehicle.

Police located him near the bank, when he tried to run, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect was charged with one count of first-degree robber; theft, a third-degree crime; and resisting arrest, also a third-degree offense. 

Zingale was taken to the Morris County Jail.

The investigation involved local police, the Criminal Investigation Section of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Major Crimes Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
