Revolutionary Times Returns to Morris County on July 4th

For the fifth year in a row, visitors to, and residents of, Morris County will have the opportunity to enjoy an authentically, patriotic 4th of July the way the Founding Fathers might have imagined it.

Celebrate the country’s independence by attending and participating in the festivities on the Morristown Green. The event will take place at noon on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017. The event is free to the public and appropriate for all ages.

Morristown National Historical Park, the nation’s first historical park, is a major sponsor of the event along with the Morris County Tourism Bureau and the Washington Association of New Jersey.

The National Park will be free on July 2, 3 and 4 in honor of the holiday. The park’s hours are 9:30 am to 5 pm each day.

On Tuesday, July 4th, at 10:00 am, The Hanover Township Landmark Commission will give a free tour of its 1718 Burying Yard located on Route 10 East, Whippany. This one-hour tour will highlight the earliest settlers of Morris County. Please pre-register by calling 973-631-5151 or signing up at info@morristourism.org.

At Noon at the Morristown Green, Park Place, costumed NPS interpreters will read the Declaration of Independence, an annual Morris County tradition. Audience participation is encouraged.

There will be music, a musket salute and free historical walking tours of the Presbyterian Church’s sanctuary and Colonial-era graveyard, est. 1733.

In case of rain, the event will move indoors to the Presbyterian Church, 57 East Park Place, Morristown.

On July 2nd , Morristown National Historical Park will offer free concerts (1:00 pm & 3:00 pm) at Washington’s Headquarters on the lawn behind the Ford Mansion, 30 Washington Place, Morristown.

The Old Barracks Fife and Drum Corps will perform. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the concert. Rain location will be on-site in the Washington’s Headquarters Museum auditorium

    Concert on July 2nd, 2017 at Morristown National Historical Park.

    Please take not that, there is only one concert at the park on that day.
    it begins at 1:00 pm and roughly ends at 3:00 pm on Sunday July 2nd, 2017.

    However, it is advised that you show up at least by 12:45pm before the concert
    for parking reasons.

    Please bring your own lawn chairs. If it rains the night before, a blanket will not
    be very helpful.. ( Personal Experience)
