Michael Aquino, owner of Curb Appeal Landscaping, was driving by the Morris Township police station one day, and noticed a bare spot in front.

He called his longtime friend, from their hockey days at Roxbury High School, Sgt. Peruso, asking if the police would accept a donation.

“It’s a great opportunity to show support to the police department,”  Capt. Mark DiCarlo said during a tree planting ceremony on Wednesday.

The Japanese Maple tree is destined to live more than 25 years, adding long-lasting beauty to the police station.
