Good things are worth waiting for. Those who waited for Friday’s do-over of Meet Me in Morristown were rewarded with good weather and good cheer.
“Everyone’s got a smile on their faces,” said Chris Harvey of Pinot’s Palette, as painting instructor Tina Pezzino demonstrated how everyone can be a Rembrandt.
Elizabeth Morales and her husband and three young kids came to the sidewalk fair to size up Morristown for a possible move from Westchester, Pa.
“We’re scoping it out,” she said, as sons A.J., 6, and Enzo, 4, practiced their chalk-work on the pavement outside of Roots Steakhouse. “It’s similar to our town, but this town has more stuff.”
Meet Me in Morristown was scheduled to open its fourth season on Thursday, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Organized by Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership, the monthly event features sidewalk sales by merchants and artisans, and musical performances.

Friday’s musicians included Adam Najemian, MarsDen and students and instructors from the Original Music School.
The turnout wasn’t bad, for the start of the long Memorial Day weekend, said Tom Werder, executive director of Morris Arts.
“There are more people in town than we expected, mostly local,” he said. “It’s a beautiful night, the weather’s perfect, and it just going to build from here.”
Katie Tatulli of Morristown and her boyfriend, Brian Calotta of Long Valley, enjoyed the festivities with their 4-year-old Border Collie, Paul.
“It’s lovely,” Tatulli said of the event. “We just stumbled upon it. This is why I want us to stay in Morristown. It’s such a vibrant community, you just want to stay a part of it.”
The good vibrations will return, weather-willing, on June 29th, July 27 and August 31, 2017.
