More than 90 organizations will aim to make Morris Plains’ 31st annual Memorial Day Parade and Service the best yet.
Thirteen bands are joining the festivities, on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
It all starts at Robert’s Garden, with a 9 am Memorial Service for America’s fallen heroes, conducted by the Morris Plains VFW Watnong Post 3401 and Denville American Legion Post 390.
The parade follows at at 9:30 am, led by Grand Marshal Tina Cecala, better known as Coach C.
A longtime Morris Plains resident, Coach Cecala built many championship swimmers in her 30-plus years as coach of the Morris Plains Marlins Summer Swim Team. Many of her swimmers have starred at Morristown High School and beyond.
The parade will weave through Mountain Way, and Rosedale and Speedwell avenues, onto Littleton Road, ending on Route 53 at VFW Watnong
Post 3401 for a free community barbecue and kiddie activities.
Among the many returning local organizations will be the Future Marines of RSS Northwest. And be sure to look for the MorristownGreen.com contingent, which is proud to march again this year.
