From Sustainable Morristown:
Sustainable Morristown, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and support a sustainable future for the Morristown Community through education, leadership and action, has renewed its partnership with Covanta for this year’s Festival Earth on Saturday, May 6, 2017

It runs from 11 am to 2 pm on the Vail Mansion Lawn in Morristown (next to the Mayo Performing Arts Center and in front of the Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen).

The partnership between town government organizations, nonprofits, and local businesses demonstrates how everyone can become an integral part of sustainability in his or her community, at home, and at work.

The theme of the event is “buy local.” This is targeted as a near-zero waste event, and everyone gets a chance to see the immediate impact for the town and our planet.

We will have entertainment and loads of information for the whole family.

Participants will include Covanta, Sustainable Morristown, town organizations, and businesses such as the Hyatt Regency Morristown, Be Well, Green Mojo, Vegfest NJ, Pinot’s Pallette, MPAC, the Morristown Animal Hospital, Joshen Paper, the Seeing Eye, Whole Foods, Cox Printers, Java’s Compost, Back to Basic Wellness, Arbonne, Ace Solar,  the Morristown Partnership, the Town of Morristown, NBD Gym and more.

They will host activities, giveaways, and the chance to order rain barrels and composters, emphasizing waste management and general sustainability.

Kenneth E. Armellino, P.E., director of environmental science and community affairs. sums up Covanta’s partnership this way:

“In all that Covanta does, we strive to ensure that our services, facilities and activities are planned and managed in a sustainable manner that is good for our business, for society and for the planet.

“It is only fitting that we support these initiatives with Sustainable Morristown in the community where our global headquarters is located.”
