Who knew that so many Morristown High School seniors could rock a runway?
In record numbers–44 altogether–they glided down the runway at Whippany’s Birchwood Manor on Thursday for the school’s annual fashion show, a fundraiser for Project Graduation.
That’s the all-night, alcohol- and drug free- party hosted immediately after the MHS graduation ceremony at Mennen Arena in June. The fundraiser ensures that the seniors don’t have to pay to attend this fabulous sendoff.
“Preliminary figures show we raised $32,000 in support of this year’s all-night party. That would include the basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and the Grand Raffle,” said Tracey Ulrich-Matalon, a parent organizer of the fashion show.

There were almost 100 gift baskets, enticing virtually everyone to buy raffle tickets.
Denim and Diamonds was the show theme. Guests were encouraged to wear denim and/or diamonds to show support for their seniors.
A large crowd came to watch the seniors strut their stuff. The models looked outstanding even before they got some professional help.
For the formal wear, the ladies wore gowns donated by Say I Do Bridal, and the guys wore tuxedos from Joseph A. Bank in Morristown.
For the casual wear, the girls’ clothes were donated from Boutique 161 and Paradise, both in Morristown. The boys got their casual wear from Cozy’s.
The girls also had their hair done by hairdressers from Bloom in Morristown, and makeup done by pros from Suzi’s. The Project Graduation team, 138 members strong, ensured that every guy and girl went out looking sensational.
Of course, watching the seniors walk was a blast. With their amicable waves, hilarious handshakes and intriguing poses, it was easy to forget these were just normal high school kids.
While everyone looked pretty amazing, there was no doubt about the crowd favorite: Mr. Dan Bertram.
All eyes were on him, and his killer moves and impressive strength as he lifted Jade Jones at the end of the runway. Unfortunately, Dan has no intentions of making a career of modeling…though the crowd wished he would.
The fun-filled night means seniors will have even more fun in a few weeks, when they finally graduate from Morristown High.
