This story has been updated to clarify the sequence of events: Police say they and EMTs responded when the victim reported the incident, hours after he said it occurred.

Morristown police are investigating the report of a man who said he was struck by a car on Sunday morning near the Morristown United Methodist Church.

The victim, 27-year-old Daniel Walsh of Parsippany, complained of minor injuries but declined a hospital trip, police said.

Officer Christopher Little responded to a call from Walsh at a South Street restaurant at 1:30 pm. Walsh told the officer he had been struck by a car several hours earlier near the church on South Park Place, said Lt. Stuart Greer.

At that time, Walsh was evaluated by emergency medical technicians from the Atlantic Ambulance Corp., Greer said.

Walsh described the vehicle as a black BMW SUV operated by a female in her 40s, Greer said.

No other details were available, and no witnesses were identified. Police are asking anyone  with information to contact them at 973-538-2200.

  1. For clarification it was reported later because the driver drove away when he approached her drivers side . The young man continued on to his place of employment where he is responsible for opening the establishment and the police were notified. He declined a trip to the hospital because his adrenaline and shock masked the pain from blunt abdominal trauma. He was later transported to the emergency room where he was examined, treated and released. He is fine but sore and out of work. The fact remains this person left the scene of striking a human being with her vehicle and should be ashamed of herself.
