A Juilliard-trained pianist puts a classical spin on hits by Burt Bacharach and Barry Manilow at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre this Sunday, March 5, 2017.  Here’s more, from the Bickford:

Burt, Barry and Beyond With Virtuoso Pianist Thomas Pandolfi
Coming To The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum

Virtuoso pianist Thomas Pandolfi returns to the Bickford Theatre for a special concert on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. This only New Jersey performance of Burt, Barry and Beyond gives his unique take on the greatest hits of Burt Bacharach and Barry Manilow.

A graduate of The Julliard School, Thomas Pandolfi has been praised by critics for his passionate artistry and impressive technique. His orchestral appearances often feature works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Liszt, Paderewski and Gershwin. He tours all over the world both as a guest soloist with symphony orchestras and as a headliner for recitals.

The Washington Post called him “one of the area’s favorite young musicians” and the Ashville Citizen-Times praised him as “a standout among today’s young pianists.”

His appearance at the Bickford Theatre will be his only New Jersey concert this season and is a rare opportunity to hear his interpretations of the music of Bacharach and Manilow. Some of the hits he will perform include “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” “I Say A Little Prayer,” Walk on By,” and “Copacabana.”

“As a young classical pianist I was struck how many of the great composers, such as Franz Liszt or Frederic Chopin, drew on popular folk tunes for their inspiration. With this program, I’ve taken the greatest hits from these two giants of popular music, such as ‘Alfie’ and ‘Mandy,’ and re-imagined how they might sound if written by a classical composer,” said Thomas Pandolfi.

“I hope the audience will have as much fun as I do with these beloved tunes. And the intimate Bickford Theatre is the perfect venue. I always look forward to appearing there.”

Burt, Barry and Beyond with Thomas Pandolfi  tickets are $40 for the general public, $38 for seniors and $20 for students under the age of 18.
