Cupid’s Chase 5K rescheduled to Feb. 18 in Morristown; motorists should avoid these roads

The Cupid’s Chase 5K has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, starting at 150 Speedwell Ave.  in Morristown at 10 am.

cupid's chase logoWintry weather last week postponed the race, which raises funds for Community Options Inc. , a nonprofit that finds housing and jobs for people with disabilities. Registration is $40 on race day (starting at 8 am).

Morristown police advise motorists that some roadways may be subject to closures during the race, which departs from the Daily Planet parking area.

The list includes:

  • Speedwell Avenue from Sussex Avenue south to Early Street. (Northbound traffic unaffected.)
  • Early Street from Speedwell Avenue to Colonial Road.
  • Colonial Road onto Milton Place.
  • Kenmuir Avenue from Milton Place to Mills Street.
  • Mills Street, entire length to Early Street.
  • Sussex Avenue from Tuxedo Place to Speedwell Place.
  • Ralph Place.
  • Willard Place.
  • Marian Place.
  • Frederick Street from Marian Place to Mills Street with the race then retracing the route: Mills south to Early Street and then east to Speedwell Avenue, finishing at 150-2 Speedwell Ave.

Police said these roadways will have closures when runners are on the course, and will reopen when runners have cleared. The event should be over by noon. Uniformed police will oversee closures and detour traffic.
