Kaitlin Roig-Debellis, a first-grade teacher who survived the 2012 massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT., next month will address a Morris County forum on an unimaginable subject: What to do during an “active shooter” situation.
She will speak on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 7 pm in Christ Church, in Rockaway Township.
Twenty children and six staff members were shot dead by a lone gunman at the Sandy Hook school just over four years ago.
Hosted by church Lead Pastor David Ireland, the Active Shooter Response Summit will include New Jersey Education Commissioner Kimberly Harrington, and many members of the law enforcement community.
The state offices of Homeland Security and Attorney General will be represented, along with the State Police.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Sheriff James Gannon and Emergency Management Director Jeff Paul also are scheduled to attend, as are various police organizations and departments.
Admission is free, but registration is required.
I Know the loss is great. Nothing will change that. Suing a company for money is not going to solve anything. Not saying anything when you see psycho posts online is a crime against humanity, you should not turn your head to this kind of behavior!!! This kid idolized the columbine shooters……not an AR 15! Period, my grandmother was murdered. I’m not trying to sue buck knife makers because she was stabbed 40 times with a buck knife. We as a people, regardless of color, should pay attention to our children!! This was no gun maker’s fault!!!! This kid was a follower. Let’s give him something/someone to follow besides a lunatic. We are so busy being concieted. Worried about how to get an edge on someone else that we are not focusing on what is important! That is leaving our knowledge learned in life with our children!! Stop letting TV and electronics be the babysitter!! Spend time with your children and take a pay cut! What happened to”common” sense?? Common is misconstrued so bad now it is not common anymore. Quit talking, and start walking! Don’t follow, step up and lead. Anybody?? God help America!!!!!!!!
