Morristown firefighters are battling a smoky blaze at George & Martha’s restaurant on Thursday afternoon.

No injuries have been reported, said Mayor Tim Dougherty.

As of 3 pm, firemen could be seen punching holes in the roof, on a raw, grey blustery day.

Kait Falcone said she drove by the Morris Street restaurant at 2:18 pm, en route to her dog-walking job, and saw a plume of smoke. No firefighters had arrived yet.

Moments later she returned to find firemen on the scene.

“I guess we got done excitement today,” Falcone said.

A woman named Linda said she was meeting inside the Morristown Diner, next door.

“We saw some drifting by the window. We began to get alarmed,” she said.

The Morristown Ambulance Squad, the Morris Minute Men, and firemen from Cedar Knolls, Madison, Morris Plains and New Vernon also responded.
