THURSDAY, DEC. 29, 2016:

There are 12 days of Christmas, according to the carol. So it’s not too late to enjoy The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s  delightful production of Dylan Thomas’s A Child’s Christmas in Wales at 8 pm. One of our favorite shows of this holiday season. Tickets: $32-$75. At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., Madison.

If you like sparkly pop tunes that send you home feeling better than when you came in, The Kennedys are for you, at 7:45 pm at The Minstrel in Morris Township. The married duo of Pete and Maura Kennedy has won legions of folk fans with their shimmery vocals, expert musicianship and personal warmth. With openers The Inspire Project.  Admission: $9 (plus what you think the show really is worth); children 12 and under, free. SATURDAY, DEC. 31:

First Night Morris County celebrates its Silver Anniversary, ringing in the New Year with nearly 90 events –art, comedy, dance and music for all ages–in 27 venues, all within an easy walk or a free shuttle ride in downtown Morristown. The alcohol-free fun starts at 4:45 pm and continues to midnight–with two fireworks shows thrown in. Admission information and a performance schedule and app are here.  Read our previews here.
