Greater Morristown has a big heart, especially during the holidays. The Morristown Fire Department has more than 1,000 examples to prove it.
That’s how many toys were donated to Toys for Tots through the fire department, Firefighter Nick Prizzi said on Monday.
“My gratitude could not be enough for the donors and all the people who backed us,” said Prizzi, who organized the local drive for the 13th straight year.
Firefighters held a kickoff event on the Morristown Green on Dec. 2, 2016. A band performed on a flatbed truck from Morristown Auto Body. Miss New Jersey made a guest appearance, and so did Mayor Tim Dougherty and Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Joseph Clayton from Picatinny Arsenal, the regional collection hub for Toys for Tots.
SmartWorld Coffee provided refreshments, volunteers came from the Morristown Neighborhood House and the fire department, and the Iron Bar donated seven shiny new bicycles, Prizzi said.
And we’re all so very proud of you, margret brady!
Proud of you all!
