Morristown police advise that construction of new apartments will disrupt access to the DeHart Street parking garage, and also will affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic, for much of November 2016, starting on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
FROM THE MORRISTOWN POLICE:
Advisory: DeHart Street Garage Entrance/Exit Ramp on DeHart Street to close starting Nov. 9, 2016, from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Metropolitan Lofts apartment building located at 11 DeHart Street will need to implement alternative DeHart Street Garage access procedures to install scaffolding and steel infrastructure in the coming weeks.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
The new building will be constructed over the parking ramp to the DeHart Street Garage. During this phase of construction, the entrance and exit ramp located on DeHart Street will be closed 8:30 am to 5 pm to ensure public safety.
All traffic will be directed in and out of the Maple Avenue entrance/ temporary exit. Traffic officers will be onsite to coordinate access. A temporary loading zone will occupy four on-street parking spaces on Market Street during the closure of the Right of Way (Nov. 17-21).

Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Friday, Nov. 11
Steel Installation:
Thursday, Nov. 17 through Monday, Nov. 21 (including weekend)
Important: DeHart Street Right of Way access will be CLOSED to pedestrians and vehicles 8:30 am to 5 pm, Nov. 17-21. All deliveries must enter the Right of Way from the Market Street Piazza or through the front entrance of your business.
CONSTRUCTION HOURS:
From 9 am to 5 pm on the days listed above.
Protective bridge scaffolding will be installed over the parking garage ramp. The scaffolding in the Right of Way (ROW) will be installed at a later date, after the structural steel has been installed. The protective cover is designed to provide safety to pedestrians and vehicles during construction and allow normal business activities to continue in this area.
The scaffolding over the DeHart Street ROW will be 16 feet high in order to accommodate delivery truck access. Additional coordination of deliveries and debris removal may be required. Please plan accordingly.
